" Sebenarnya saya telah bertemu dengan hampir semua institusi diraja di negara ini. Sudah tentu keprihatinan raja-raja perlu dihargai oleh semua rakyat Malaysia kerana mereka berada di kedudukan yang berkecuali dan tidak mampu untuk respons terhadap sebarang kebimbangan rakyat.
"Sudah tentu mereka menyambut dengan baik dan berbesar hati kerana kami komited untuk mempertahankan perlembagaan dan termasuk sistem monarki tersebut," katanya dalam satu wawancara khas bersama Sinar Harian.
Katanya, perkara kedua yang ditanyakan oleh Baginda adalah melibatkan kedudukan Islam di negara ini.
"Ini adalah kerana Baginda melihat perkembangan menerusi media sosial dari masa ke semasa bahawa terdapat tindakan yang dilihat bertentangan dengan Islam malah ada di antara membuat permintaan yang melebih.
"Saya sendiri sukar memahami perkara itu. Malah ada juga yang beranggapan bahawa Jabatan Kemajuan Agama Islam (Jakim) perlu ditutup selepas ini. Namun kami memberi jaminan bahawa kerajaan baharu mempunyai peranan dalam menjamin institusi ini termasuk merombak semula badan berkenaan bagi memastikan ia lebih berkesan di samping mengelakkan berlaku tanggapan yang salah," katanya.
Terbaharu Anwar berkata, peranan kecil beliau sebelum ini telah memberi peluang untuk berunding dan berbicang dengan Yang di-Pertuan Agong mengenai isu Peguam Negara.
"Apabila saya bertemu dengan Baginda, ia tidak seperti yang anda dengar atau baca di media sosial. Saya mempunyai kelebihan mendengar secara terus permasalahan dari pihak Istana. Beliau menginginkan mekanisme di mana terdapat konsultasi yang berkesan dalam kerajaan baharu (berhubung perkara itu).
"Baginda juga tidak menafikan hakikat bahawa perdana menteri mempunyai keutamaan dan perlembagaan itu jelas. Baginda memberitahu sendiri perkara itu dan saya tidak perlu mengingatkannya. Baginda juga memaklumkan bahawa Baginda hanya boleh menangguhkan (pelantikan Peguam Negara) sehingga mendapat penjelasan.
Jelasnya, Yang di-Pertuan Agong juga meminta untuk menyatakan secara terbuka di mana Baginda menerima pemecatan Tan Sri Apandi Ali dan melantik Tommy Thomas sebagai Peguam Negara baharu malah pada masa sama mengukuhkan dan mempertahankan kedudukan mengikut perlembagaan termasuk hak istimewa Melayu serta hak Bumiputera di samping mempertahankan Islam sebagai agama rasmi negara ini
